John 8:34-36 (NIV)

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

This year during the 4th of July this scripture crossed my mind. I reflected on how people across the US celebrated this country’s independence from Great Britain, but so many of those people are slaves to other things in their lives. The scripture above says “…everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” So while this country is free, its people are in some form of bondage due to sin. What a duplicitous life we live.

I don’t have much else to say on this topic except this, we are free because Jesus set us free from the bondage of sin. If you are bound by sin in your life it is imperative to identify that sin, repent (or turn away from it), and walk in the freedom that the Son (Jesus Christ) offers us all.

                                                                                                                             Sincerely,

  Selah
