Not Easily Broken

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT)
12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
One of my interests is collecting nice dinnerware sets and coffee mugs. I have some unique pieces from foreign countries that I use sparingly, and some for daily use that I have maintained for years. The oldest set I have is all black and I bought it while in college around 2004. All of a sudden, after I got married my dishes started breaking. No, it wasn't due to any fighting or for some spooky reason. Only for this blog's sake, will I reveal that it's mainly my husband's fault. LOL. For some reason, it seems he can't stop dropping dishes. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it feels like a piece of my heart breaks too. Although I know it's accidental, it has somewhat been challenging to see my dinnerware sets dwindle piece by piece.
While reflecting on this the other day I realized one VERY important thing. The plates, bowls, and cups may have broken; yet, they can be replaced. However, our marriage is not easily broken. According to Ecclesiastes 4:12, with the two of us and God bound together, no matter what comes we will remain intact. And that is encouraging to me. In this season of my life, I am learning to let go of the old memories tied to some of my favorite dishes, and l am leaning into focusing on not allowing the accidents and incidents that come our way to break our marriage. While we continue to serve and remain in Him (God), I trust He will keep us strong!
I encourage everyone to keep the main thing the main thing in marriage. In the meantime, I'm moving on to find microwavable, unbreakable dinnerware. And when it comes to my international cups and saucers, those are off-limits for him. : )
